Topps 2008-09 Basketball Review

Gas was $.24c a gallon, milk a $1.01, you could by a top of the line fully optioned car for under $4,000. Sounds like a dream right? Well keep in mind the average household income was also a paltry $4,650 per year. In the world of basketball the NBA was in its 13th season that culminated in the Boston Celtics sweep of the Minnesota Lakers in the Finals in route to their first of 8 consecutive titles for Red Auerbach and Bill Russell. Their opponent featured another future Hall of Famer in Elgin Baylor.

Fast forward 50 years, and obviously, a lot has changed in America. However, one thing that hasn’t is America’s love of basketball. 2008-09 Topps Basketball pays tribute to this special season that set the mark for future franchises and dynasties to be compared. Included at a rate of 1:2 packs is a ’58-’59 variation. These cards really highlight the entire product and are utilized for relic and autograph cards also.
