Speaking Of Beating A Dead Horse

Don't get me wrong, I love the player, persona, and legacy of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. I have considered myself a player collector of his ever since acquiring a 2001 SP Legendary Cuts game used bat card several years ago. At one point in time, that groundbreaking card carried serious value.
Unfortunately, since the production of that once classic piece of cardboard memorabilia, Donruss inundated the market with a tremendous amount of game used cards with the release of their Sports Legends product in 2008. Now it seems his bat cards are a dime a dozen as the card pictured here currently sits on eBay with no bids at $9.99. Truly sad.
Well. with Upper Deck's announcement today of another exclusive player licensing deal, this time with the estate of Jackson, we can expect another deluge of his cards to hit the market in the coming year, starting with 2010 Goudey.
